Reading market movement
A book's price isn't a fixed number — it moves as the game approaches. Those movements are the market thinking out loud, and reading them can confirm or warn you about your own picks.
What a moving price means
If a favorite's price shortens from -140 to -155, the market is becoming more confident in them. If the price lengthens (moves toward the other side), the market is losing confidence. Think of it like a crowd betting on a race: when more informed people back a horse, its price shortens.
Who moves the market
Two forces move prices: the public (lots of small bets) and the professionals (bigger, earlier, sharper bets). When a price moves with no obvious news, it's usually professionals who got there first — they bet before the public even notices. Following the early move is a common strategy; challenging it with your own model is the more advanced play.
How to use it in VEKTORIUM
The market-movement page shows each market's opening price and current price side by side. If your pick's price is moving in your favor, the market is agreeing with you — a good sign. If it's moving against you, ask whether your model knows something the market doesn't, or whether you should wait or pass.
